Services

I hold myself out as a “bespoke”, or custom broker. What this means is that I tailor my recommendations to the unique requirements of my clients. I generate my income through this type of service by charging commissions on transactions, or if you will “transaction based active management”.

I am, and always will be, the person at the end of the phone, or in person, who can and will explain each recommendation, and every question you may have. I would rather be able to explain my recommendations or even have to justify them not only because I understand what I recommend, but also because I am accountable and responsible as an Investment Advisor.

My belief is that there will be full, true, and plain disclosure on what I recommend, and also what my services cost. I believe that there are many products in the marketplace that involve management and other fees, which can be confusing. My approach is to make investing simple and clear.

Services

Transaction based

- Timely market related opportunities arise that require a reaction that can be categorized by the risk/reward parameters that apply to the particular circumstance.
- This may include such events as takeovers, specific corporate news or other market moving events ,including short selling for clients that appreciate both sides of the market.

Timely Advice

- Either directed through specific contact with an individual client, based on their individual portfolio needs, or

- Through the newsletter(see link) for new issues or private placements that appear to of particular interest.

Options and Derivatives

- As you have already seen I have been working with options since 1984. I strongly recommend the use of options as an insurance strategy for all clients who own dividend paying equities. Options can enhance the dividend return and give an extra dimension to the “Get paid while you wait” for owning North American dividend paying equities.
- They are also one of the best ways to have a defined loss threshold for owning or taking advantage of forseen or expected future events in specific equities.

New Issues

- These will be dealt with using the news letter unless of specific interest to a particular client. Only new issues that have been vetted by our group regardless of origin(Financial Institution) will be recommended. And generally will be highlighted in the newsletter(see link)

Tax Free Savings Accounts(TFSA)

- See govt. link
- These accounts should be of particular interest to those who expect a higher than average return from a specific market involvement.
- See RCC link for terms

Exchange Traded Funds

- These new “equities” offer the user to participate in specific commoditie, baskets of commodities (Agricultural ETF’s) market sectors, geographic regions ,emerging markets and market indexes. They offer an accelerated return and the ability to be either bullish, or bearish while owning units of the ETF.

- Used in a portfolio they are also an excellent way to take protection from market events without having to liquidate your portfolio. A small amount of money in an index ETF can go a long way to hedge short term risk ,or give coverage to a portfolio based on the leverage that an ETF provides.
